Liebe and the Dog Beach

Liebe has become a fan of the Beach. There is a great Dog Beach on Coronado and so we thought we would take Liebe to see how he likes it. He loves to swim and it was a big hit.
He was out it the waves chasing his ball. He was competing with other dogs to get to the ball first. He really was having a fun time.
He was taking a break here. Swimming in the waves did get him tired. We thought that he wanted to leave after he laid down on the sand. But he just rested for a few minutes and hopped up for some more fun in the water.
This is one of my favorites of him. Bouncing through the waves back to the shore. It was really fun to see him enjoy the beach. This was our only trip to the beach so far because it is a lot of work to clean him up after playing in the SAND, the worst part of the beach.

Sea World

Over Memorial Day weekend we enjoyed seeing the sites of San Diego. Sea World was a big hit with the whole family. We enjoyed seeing the majestic Killer Whales. I love this show because it teaches us to follow our dreams and that is so important for us to do. I hope that my children will always follow their dreams.

This was so cute to watch the killer whales shaking its head at us. Then they started twirling around and around with thier fins out. And then came the command to get the crowd wet. And boy did a few people get wet. Luckily we learned from the dolphin show to sit up higher in the stands.

This is a picture from the new dolphin show and boy it really is amazing. There is diving and acrobatics and dolphins jumping and whales getting everyone wet. Our girls don't like to get wet but we thought it would be good to sit close so we can see better and that was not a good decision. We were very wet by the end of the show and so were our sweaters trying to make sure the girls didn't get wet. They still got a little wet on the bottom half but at least they didn't get water splashed in their faces. We won't be sitting in the Spalsh Zone again.

I love the Sting Ray pool. It is really fun to interact with the sea life. The girls really liked having their dad help them touch the sting rays.

Here's the family nice and dry before the dolphin show. It was a fun day at the park. I'm sure that next summer will be filled with lots of days at Sea World. We decided to wait until next year when the girls are older to buy our year passes. We sure do love San Diego and like Luis says all the time, "it feels like we are on vacation". We have had a lot of those "vacation" moments living in San Diego.

La Jolla Cove

This Memorial Day weekend we dicided to take in the sites of San Diego starting with La Jolla Cove. This is a beautiful beach where you can see the tide pools and the seals. It was a beautiful morning and the water was so clear.
We had a fun time climbing the rocks and enjoying all the different sea life there is to see. This crab was such a different color than all the other crabs. He was all alone in his own little pool.
This sea anemone was in a pool with a few crabs. The girls got to touch and feel the sea anemone and see it close up. They were fascinated by it. All the crabs were hiding in the cracks of the rocks so we didn't get very good pictures of them.
Here are the seals sun bathing on the rocks. We got to see them swimming around playing in the ocean and looking for food. It was fun to see and the girls really enjoyed it and continue to ask to go see the seals again.
And here is the family picture on the beach. It was such a beautiful day at the beach and we will probably take many trips to La Jolla to enjoy our time there.
The next day we went to Sea World...pictures to come!!

Luis Graduation

So I had the wonderful oppurtunity to go to see my husband at his Graduation from Bootcamp on Feb. 12, 2010. It was a very moving experience to see 1028 new Sailors in the US Navy. And, of course, I was super proud of my Sailor husband for all his hard work that got him to this point.

We, my mother-in-law, brother-in-law, my girls and I, drove to Illinois to attend. It was crazy to drive 24 hours there, especially with kids but it was the cheapest route for all of us to see him. We got to Illinois the morning of his graduation and slept for about 2 hours before attending but it was well worth it to see such a moving experience. Here is Luis with his Division 086. He is in the second row from the right and the fourth person back. He was hard to recognize with all the weight that he has lost.

And here he is at our hotel. He was granted one day of "Liberty", as they call it, to spend time with his family. We had a great time visiting after being seperated for two months. As you can see from this picture, he has really lost a lot of weight. He looks super HOT. I'm his wife so I can say that.

His little girls were very excited to see him, especially Kristine. She misses her Daddy very much. She is a Daddy's girl and you can see that here. She could not wait to see her Daddy. The whole ceremony she was asking me where is my Daddy and when can I see Daddy. She ran up to him, hugged him and then jumped up into his arms and didn't want to let go. It was great to see them together again.

Kaitlin had a more difficult time recognizing her Daddy. She just kept looking at his hat and wasn't sure it was really him. She recognized his voice but didn't know for sure because of his hat. This picture was after the shock had worn off and she was happy to be with her Daddy again.

And here's our little family together again. We all look really tired because we all were but it was great to be together again. We had a great time with Luis and were sad when he had to ship out early to his next station but we look forward to having him home soon and finding out where we will end up living. Luis is scheduled to finish "A school" (aka job training) on Mar. 24th, 2010. This is fast approaching and we couldn't be happier. Come home soon Babe!!! We miss you and love you!!!

Letters from Luis

nWell, I thought I would update my blog. I have really been busy this last month trying to get everything organized at my parents house and trying to feel at home. It has been difficult because my sister and her family live here as well. They were supposed to be moved out before I moved in but finances are short and so we all live here together. I have a lot less space then I was planning on and I brought too much stuff to fit into that small space. Well, I think I have finally got everything organized and settled.
This week I received 4 letters from Luis. He is doing well and working hard. He has passed his first set of Physical Trainings and also his swimming test and float test. We are really proud of him because he was so worried about these tests at Bootcamp. He is also studying really hard for his next set of tests on all the procedures, aircarft info and gun handling. I'm not too worried about these because he does really good on tests so we are just praying that he passes with flying colors. If he passes all of these tests he will graduate on Feb. 12th. This is really exciting because this is the day after his birthday and right before Valentine's Day. I will be attending his graduation but have decided to not take my girls to save myself the pain of having them see their Daddy and then having him leave again. I have thought about it a lot and I don't think I could handle it, let alone Luis handling it too. Anyway, I look forward to seeing Luis again soon, only about a month to go. After he graduates he will be going to Mississippi for his job training. He will be there for about 5 weeks and then we will find out where we will be moving to. So for now we still don't know for sure where we will end up.
